ROSTAM PRODUCTIONS
The 2023 Motion Design Reel represents a big change in my own progress as a Designer. After receiving critical feedback from my mentor and former professor, I decided to build a new reel, much shorter than the original and with an emphasis on transitions.

One of the criticisms I received was that my titlecard was too long and static for Motion Design. To change this I created a new titlecard that combined snappy movement with a squash and stretch.

I also wanted to figure out an optimal workflow while animating the reel. Eventually, I settled on animating the assets first against a high contrast background. This helped me only see the movement, so I could nail the animation down first.

Then I added a background according to the style frames I developed. Finally, I worked on the aesthetic and little touches such as grain. The whole process can be seen demonstrated on the left.
For the new content, I kept it simple and appealing. With the new workflow, I was able to finish this reel in half the time of the original, despite it being much more complicated.

It was also when I took a deep dive into the 3D camera and its possibilities. Although After Effects 3D capability is somewhat limited, I still managed to create this energy cube just by aligning shape layers.
